GCDML

The Genomic Contextual Data Markup Language (GCDML) is a core project of the Genomic Standards Consortium (GSC) that implements the “Minimum Information about a Genome Sequence” (MIGS) specification and its extension, the “Minimum Information about a Metagenome Sequence” (MIMS). Genomic Contextual Data Markup Language

Extension of MIGS/MIMS for ribosomal RNAs

  • MIGS/MIMS for 16S - this page is an attempt to leverage existing interest in the rRNA community (submitters and data providers) to enrich ribosomal RNA sequences (16S/18S/23S/28S) with contextual data. Key aspects are: Which fields are most relevant for the users and how can sequence submission to the INSDC effectively be handled. These are key goals to be able to retrieve, for example, all 16S sequences related to specific habitat parameters (i.e. soil, marine, freshwater, contaminated, temperature, salinity, oxygen etc.).
