[edit] The first MIBBI Workshop

At this first MIBBI workshop we will cover a number of topics, falling into two broad areas:

  • Project management, working practices and funding
  • Outputs from the project (see outline agenda, below)

[edit] Dates

  • 2-3 April 2008

[edit] Venue and Organizers

The meeting will be held in the Courtyard Room at The European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), Cambridge, UK (Directions).

The organisers are Chris Taylor (EBI), Susanna Sansone (EBI) and Dawn Field (GSC, NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology).

[edit] Registration

Registration for this first workshop is limited to the nominated representatives of MIBBI-registered checklist development communities. However, while this is a closed workshop designed to meet the organisational needs of this emerging community, if you would like to register your interest in attending this or future workshops please email Chris Taylor.

An URL link for the registration spreadsheet (held at Google Docs) has been sent be email to all invitees. In case of difficulties, email Chris Taylor directly with details.

[edit] Background Information

A selection of excerpts from the paper submitted to Nature Biotechnology can be found on this page, along with the most recent draft of the paper itself, and the analysis spreadsheet (of MI projects) that it in part summarises.

See also, the MIBBI home page on SourceForge.

[edit] Workshop Background

This 1st workshop will focus on evaluation of the proposed MIBBI modules derived from the ongoing analysis of all 20 registered checklists. It will be a combination of introductory talks from checklist groups and hands on work.

This workshop is being funded by BBSRC (BB/E025080/1) and NERC/NEBC, with organisational support being provided by the EBI. Accommodation and morning/evening meals will be provided, and some funds are available to support travel if required (see Reimbursement of Expenses below)

N.B. Depending Nature Biotech's publication schedule and the number of editorial revisions required for the MIBBI manuscript, the workshop may also involve some necessary manuscript revisions, or checking of proofs. Ideally, the manuscript will be in print by the workshop, thereby serving as a basis for further work.

[edit] Workshop Agenda and Presentations

Finalised agenda is available as a Word document from here

[edit] Planning Telcons

There will be a coordinators call scheduled in advance of the workshop, to discuss the draft schedule.

[edit] What you can do to help MIBBI achieve its goals

The purpose of these workshops is to involve the wider 'checklist' community in developing the roadmap for the MIBBI community in general, and the MIBBI Foundry specifically.

[edit] Add to the Wiki

This Wiki is open for anyone to edit and many of you have. Please feel free to make an account and contribute at any time.
