MIGS/MIMS
From Genomic Standards Consortium
[edit] Introduction
MIGS (Minimum Information About a Genome Sequence) outlines a conceptual structure for extending the core information that is common to describing genomic sequences beyond that traditionally captured in genome annotations.
The MIMS (Minimum Information about a Metagenomic Sequence/Sample) specification is an extension of MIGS for metagenomic datasets. It is primarily concerned with the capture of contextual data about the environment from which a sample was taken.
The content of the MIGS checklist is now available for viewing in a variety of formats.
[edit] Availability
- The MIGS paper has now been published in Nature Biotechnology. The published checklist version 2.0 is found here: http://www.nature.com/nbt/journal/v26/n5/box/nbt1360_BX1.html
- an electronic version of the checklist developed at the 5th GSC Workshop: http://gensc.sourceforge.net/docs/migsmims/
- For all versions of the MIGS checklist as a word document please refer to the MIGS page
[edit] Implementation
- The MIGS Checklist implemented in GCDML can been seen in the Genome Catalogue and the latest version can be downloaded from here: http://gensc.org/gsc/gcat/xsd
- The XML schema documentation as HTML can be seen here: http://gensc.org/gsc/gcat/reports/create
- Views of the checklist (as GCDML) can be seen as webforms in the Genome Catalogue that are ready for data entry. Click on 'Browse' to see completed forms, or create an account to see the input forms and enter data: http://gensc.org
- MIGS/MIMS XML schema version with changes as proposed by CAMERA on 10 May 2007 [1]
- Simplified MIMS XML Schema Version produced during GSC Workshop (Jun 6-8 2007) : [2]
