New board members

GSC welcomes our two new board member; Philip Hugenholtz and Granger Sutton!

Philip’s research interests include the microbial ecology and evolution of host-associated ecosystems such as the termite hindgut and human microbiome, and genomic mapping of the microbial tree of life.  He has helped pioneer the use of culture-independent molecular methods to characterise microbial communities including marker gene and shotgun (metagenomic) approaches. Granger Sutton is a Professor of Informatics at JCVI and as the Prokaryotic Informatics Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of prokaryotic bioinformatics and software engineering for JCVI’s sequencing and sequence-related informatics, including assembly and annotation.
